Ed Waggoner is the owner of Empire Property Management, LLC, and has actively managed properties for almost two decades. Growing up in the trades, his experience in construction and property management extends from repairs, small residential and commercial developments, single family management, to portfolio management for investment companies.
Jumping into the management company feet first early in life, he learned the hard way about the necessity of being an educated landlord. The first house he managed was his own and, like most first-time property owners, he did most of it wrong and almost none of it right. The tenants he put into the house had the potential to be good, but with an ignorant property manager… it was an eventful experience, to put it mildly.
The property went vacant after a few years. Rather than be faced with another trip through hell, he decided to do it right, or not at all. He attended Lane Community College and did the necessary studying required to become certified through the Real Estate Agency of Oregon. In 2003, Ed officially became a Licensed Property Manager.
With his first-hand experience with the dangers of being ignorant, one of his delights is to teach classes to property owners for the Rentals Owners Association. He has served on the board of the ROA.
His life’s goal is to be the best husband and father, and as such enjoys spending time with his wife and children. In his spare time, he likes to read, travel, do some running, fishing, hunting, and backpacking up into the mountains on weekends. His interests include political philosophy, science, and history.
